Mike Brunscheen moved to Altamonte Springs in 2009 to put down roots and grow. Over the last 12 years, Mike has watched our community prosper while enjoying the great benefits it provides as a fantastic place for families to live, work and play.
Mike is running for Altamonte Springs City Commission because he believes in:
• A Fiscally Conservative Approach
• Smart Growth
• Implementing important water, sewer & solar projects
• Expanding internship and STEM programs
• Increasing multi-modal transportation
• Protecting Altamonte Springs vibrant quality of life
And Mike believes in giving back to his community – like serving on the board of the 2nd Chance of Florida Foundation, a former ambassador for UCF's Strategic Selling Program, former chair for the Downtown Business Partnership, and his service on the Marketing Board for the Metropolitan Business Association. Further, Mike was appointed to the Altamonte Springs Code Enforcement Board (chair), Altamonte Springs Personnel Administration Board (vice-chair), Altamonte Springs Advisory Charter Committee (vice-chair), and Altamonte Springs Municipal Planning Board.
Outside of Mike's involvement in the City of Altamonte Springs he is also a proud graduate of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office Community Law Enforcement Academy (Class #67 in 2016). After a rigorous application & interview process along with an additional background check Mike was appointed to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Civilian Review Board in 2018 and was re-appointed for a second 4-year term in 2022.
In the last year Mike was also appointed to represent Altamonte Springs on Seminole County Public Schools Citizens Advisory Group regarding the Impact Fee schedule the county reviews every 3 years. Mike spoke strongly in support of continued smart growth, properly structured fees, and no unnecessary debt when other alternatives are available.
From a young age, Mike knew he had a passion for sales – working part-time for a refinance organization while learning the value of building meaningful business relationships. His time at the University of Central Florida only encouraged his passion in Account Management and Business Development – specifically focused on branded merchandise, print and marketing.
For eighteen (18) years, Mike assisted small businesses and Fortune 500 companies strategically reach their customers. In 2021, Mike diversified his client portfolio by helping medical professionals market their business locally and in 2022, Mike was recruited to work with a technology company where he feels right at home with the company's core philosophy "Because Connections Matter."
Mike met his wonderful wife in Altamonte Springs in 2012 and they married four years later. They have two beautiful children and one of the kids favorite things about Altamonte is the holidays at Cranes Roost, specifically the dancing water show.
The Brunscheen Family can be found playing and enjoying in Altamonte's numerous parks and playgrounds.
